I don't think Tiger was imported to Australia to contribute to the US team with five points. He's Down Under to secure media attention. On course it was a given from the start he would be redundant - unless you are part of a certain group in the US media.
However, looking outside the ropes, this is not even close to being a Ryder Cup status event, and maybe Tiger is not the only thing on a down slope this week.
I don't think the Australian Open is a median for where Tiger is going. He came in fourth in the Masters, and even though the field in Australia was good, it was far from the usual standard on the PGA Tour or the European Tour.
Tiger has only few shots left in the gun to get back on track, but as long as he takes his advice from Sean Foley, the former number one in the world is shooting with blanks.
